HELA Governor Philip Undialu has praised the resilience of the Wigmen who are one game away from winning the Digicel Cup.
Undialu said he would honour his commitment of providing the man-of-the-match prize, which will be doubled for Sunday’s grand final.
He made the comment in the Wigmen’s dressing room following their 30-10 win over Waghi Tumbe at the National Football Stadium in Port Moresby on Sunday.
“Today’s win shows how good you are. We need to prove that we are not pretenders but contenders for the Digicel Cup,” Undialu told the Wigmen.
“This is a proud moment for us to have come this far and Prime Minister James Marape was also present to witness the win from the grand stand.
“I want to assure you players and officials that we fully support your campaign in the semi-professional competition.
“Let’s get the win against the Tigers (in the grand final on Sunday). We will be here to support the team again and make sure that we win the premiership.”
Wigmen chairman Andy Hetra thanked Undialu and (Tari-Pori MP) Marape for backing the provincial franchise.
Hetra said the man-of-the-match prize had boosted the morale of the players in the top-six finals.
“From sixth spot, we have battled through to the grand final to face the Tigers,” he said.
