City Pharmacy planning on expand into rural areas

CITY Pharmacy Limited (CPL) founder Sir Mahesh Patel says the business is looking at expending services to rural areas of Papua New Guinea.
“We do not have any fixed plans yet for the expansion but we are seriously exploring various locations, visiting various places around the country in the last few weeks, we have seen the plight of people having to travel long hours to get basic retail services,” he said.
Sir Mahesh said this when giving an update on the CPL group’s plans.
“The other focus would be to then also look at opportunities to engage with farmers in various regions to support the produce industry, which is key to the success of not only our supermarkets but the nation as a whole.”
Meanwhile, Sir Mahesh said the Rainbow Stop & Shop in Port Moresby would be extended.
“The Rainbow Stop & Shop will have a major uplift and a minor extension,” he said.
“We plan to lift the standards and customer experience, as the property is very old.
“The whole store layout will change.”
He said work on the K40 million CPL warehouse in Gerehu was in its final stages.
The old CPL warehouse went up in flames at the same site in June 2017.
“The Gerehu warehouse is in the final stages of a fit-out and we hope to start the move later this month,” Sir Mahesh said.
