City PMV buses not completing routes

Letters

FUEL and food prices have increased.
PMV buses for routes 9 and 7 in Port Moresby are not completing their routes but are charging K2 instead of K1.
Route 9 buses coming from Boroko now only drop passengers off at Waigani for K1 and then pick up passengers from Waigani to Gerehu for another k1.
They then pick up passengers from Gerehu and will demand K2 or else they will stop at Waigani and force everyone to get off the bus.
They have been doing this since last year before fuel prices increased.
This is wrong.
The Government’s response was to put up a hotline number and station traffic officers at the Waigani bus stop every Friday afternoon.
This can only work for a day or so.
Why are PMV operators holding people to ransom whenever they feel like it?
Why is the Government not doing anything to improve public transport in the city? Our city has grown considerably in the last few years and the transportation system is still the same.
We still have the same careless PMV operators who smoke and chew betel nuts in the bus, swear and threaten passengers if they do not give the right amounts of bus fare.
Can we have a proper transportation system in the country with decent operators?
