City residents, Central people told to mind own business

POLICE have advised residents of Port Moresby and the people of Central to go about their normal businesses and not be swayed by the current political events.
Assist Police Comm Anthony Wagambie, the commander for Central and the National Capital District, said members of the public should leave politics to the national leaders.
“Our leaders are mandated by the people and that (is why) they serve us in Parliament.
“They are there to set the path for our country.
“So let us accord them that respect and freedom to do so. The days of so-called hijacking and kidnapping of MPs to go to political camps are over.
“We have to get past this.
“We live in a modern democratic society where every individual has equal rights to choose what is best for himself and herself.”
He said any such acts were illegal as they were tantamount to a deprivation of liberty.
“Members of parliament should be allowed to move about freely and decide where they stand in regards to running of our country,” he said.
