SIX Toti City FC players have secured contracts to play abroad following their successful defence of the National Soccer League (NSL) title.
City skipper Raymond Gunemba will be leaving for Melbourne this month to play with Geelong FC on a three-month contract.
According to his father and coach Peter, Gunemba would return before the next NSL season starts in November.
“Raymond has contacts there in Melbourne so they called him up looking for a striker and he agreed,” he said.
Nigel Dabinyaba will travel to New Zealand to join fellow Papua New Guinea international Patrick Aisa at Hamilton FC.
Dabinyaba will play for Hamilton until March next year and will not be available for City when the NSL season starts, but will be included for the OFC Champions League.
The other four players will ply their trade in the Solomon Islands.
Midfielders Jacob Sabua and Emmanuel Simon will play with the Malaita Kings in the S- League which starts next month, and Japheth Tiampo and Obert Bika will join the Henderson Eels.
Tiampo and Bika will join City teammate and Solomon Islands international Andrew Rarangia at the Eels.
City’s players in the S-League will return in November for the NSL season.
“Toti City has a sister relationship with the clubs in the S-League. Through relationship, we are able to send our players to the Solomon Islands and they are able to do the same,” Gunemba said.
