Civil Registry

Letters

BEING a patriotic citizen of this country, it is rather disturbing as well as being quiet infuriating to see and hear of the never-ending controversies over the administration and operations of the National Civil Registry office.
More so, as to the controversies surrounding the appointments and the removals of the incumbents of the Registrar General’s Office.
There have been indiscriminate displacement, and mistreatment of the functional line officers and staff.
The National Identification (NID) system was created for all; or every eligible citizen of PNG.
The Legislative Amendment
No. 17 of 2014 in the creation of a New Section 37 to the Civil Registration Acts 1963 as the Principal Act need to be seriously reviewed as well in terms of its purpose, appropriateness, and consistency in its legal relationship to the original Section 37 of the Principal Act 1963.
Thus, for the purposes of transparency, good governance and prudent management of the state’s entity, the incumbent at the Registrar-General’s Office should concentrate on doing just that.
