A NATIONAL Capital District Commission (NCDC) cleaner, who allegedly attempted to kill a policeman in Port Moresby, is facing a murder charge in a Waigani committal court.
Presiding Magistrate Paul Puri Nii told Joy Andale, from Mamares village, Laiagam in Enga, that the case would be adjourned to next week to give the police prosecution time to respond.
It was alleged that last Oct 24 at the Lareva main market, the policeman and his team, also from the NCDC, were carrying out Coronavirus (Covid-19) awareness when they were attacked by Andale and other vendors at the market.
The complainant, Pulaip Nuli, a policeman attached to the Gordon Police Station, was off-duty and was with the awareness team.
The team were stoned by Andale and others from the NCDC who took care of the market.
It was alleged that Andale and other vendors and workers from the Hohola Lareva market management attacked Nuli and his group because they were against the Covid-19 awareness.
It was further alleged that Andale’s husband went and punched Nuli and Andale went from the back and struck Nuli with a weapon on his head.
Nuli fell on the ground inside the market and was rushed to the Port Moresby General Hospital.
