Clear outstanding district debts

Letters

THE outstanding debts at the district treasury level by the seating members and their district development authority (DDA) members need to be cleared before the polling and declarations.
All debts must be thoroughly investigated by law enforcing agencies so that what is expedited clearly at the districts has benefitted the people or not, may be honoured by the would be member elect or incoming Honourable member.
Debts incurred outside of the district that hardly benefit the people may be the sole responsibility of the seating member he/she is subject to investigation and face the full force of the law.
District’s development funds must be spent on the benefits of the majority of people and not only to close associates or acquaintance of the leader to be affluent. All outstanding financial transactions or payments yet to be done on projects will be properly verified and assess its worth and value scale of advantages have reached the people at large or not and then payments can be made accordingly.
Over the previous terms, the newly elected leaders have been seen as scape goats dragged into meeting such unnecessary liabilities which has been seen as a wastage of people’s money.
It puts additional burdens on innocent new members of parliament.
Leaders must be transparent and accountable in financial matters particularly expenditures.
Entry to the parliament is a dream and wishes of candidates but the uppermost is the people’s mandatory through the ballot papers that approves such determination.
Literally people must be served with dignity, pride and honesty so that everyone is happy.
Roads and bridges are very important and are catalyst for other developments to reach the people.
Without proper road connections there is very little or hardly anything happening culminated to no improvement in the lives of people.
Let us be conscious of what is to be done for the common good of our people.
