Roads connect the economy

Letters

ROADS are the arteries which the economy pulses through.
By linking producers to markets, workers to jobs, students to schools and the sick to the hospitals, roads are vital to any development agenda.
Connecting Papua New Guinea, which was initiated by Prime Minister James Marape is a policy framework that will surely make services assessable to every Papua New Guineans.
I commend Marape for launching the Connect PNG Programme.
It is understandably evident that by connecting different cities, towns and villages, roads service serves as a very important means for vehicle and people to travel from one place to another.
Among the most common examples of land transport are buses, trucks, motorcycles, rickshaws and scooters.
If there is no road, then PNG’s economy would experience a huge decline then has never seen before.
So, road corridors are vital to efficient service delivery.
With the socio-economic numbers on the low, the road links provide new opportunities.
I believe the Government’s focus on roads is critical and strategic and the efforts made by the Government is excellent.
Given the rugged geographical terrain in PNG, the construction of road would be a challenge.
However, where there is a will there will always be a way.
