THIS weekend’s Port Moresby Super League games have been suspended because some clubs failed to finalise their 2012 financial obligation by the July 31 deadline.
PMSA Super League chairman Wayne Taylor said the suspension was  regrettable but clubs who had outstanding payments to settle had until the extended Aug 4 deadline or they would be excluded for the remainder of the season.
It would mean that  teams and grades playing under the Super League banner will be deemed to have forfeited their matches if their clubs had not settled their accounts with the competition organisers.
Taylor said forfeited clubs would automatically record 2-0 loses.
Clubs were reminded that they would be automatically suspended from the association upon forfeiture of three games and would need to re-apply for affiliation next year.
The chairman said clubs have had over five months to arrange payment and with only five rounds to be played, it was unfair on those clubs that had followed the guidelines.
That potentially places the amount of prize money to be awarded in jeopardy.
Super League games will recommence next week for those paid clubs.
Taylor said with five men’s rounds to be played in the regular season, seven out of the 10 teams have a realistic chance of participating in the finals with only Defence, Momase andYMC effectively out of calculation.
