MOROBE Wawens bounced back from their loss to Vitiaz United with a 2-1 round-13 win over Star Mountain in the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League in Lae on Saturday.
Wawens coach Charlie Foike said Morobe Wawens, despite the win, needed to adjust to the basics of soccer such as passing and football structures in order to win games.
“After few coaches have come and gone the team remains,” he said.
“The players are making good progress. Since becoming the coach, I’ve emphasised more on attack than defence. Our defence is good but my concern is on our attack. We need to work on this area to score more goals and win games.
“After losing to Vitiaz United, I’ve seen that we really need to work on our attack.
We put in a great performance and got a positive result.”
Foike said they needed to maintain their intensity from start to finish in every game.
“Our football is good but little things like discipline and others areas need to be improved for us to work as a team,” he said.
“With five games remaining, our focus is to make the top-four but we must work extra hard as it is not an easy run to the top.”
The remaining regular-season games for Wawens are against Gulf Komara, Lae City, Hekari United, Tusbab Stallions and Bougainville.
