Coca-Cola PNG Limited has backed the National Schools Rugby League competition to nurture quality rugby league players and citizens of the country.
Coca-Cola PNG Limited general manager Joyonto Chaudhury said the initiative of giving youngsters a platform to excel in the sport presented the country with an opportunity to put in stronger performances at the Rugby League World Cup in the next five to 10 years.
Coca-Cola PNG Limited is the new naming rights sponsor of the National Schools Rugby League after signing a five-year agreement with the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League in Port Moresby on Tuesday.
“Papua New Guinea in the world of Coca-Cola is special because the world’s largest beverage has been PNG’s social currency,” Chaudhury said.
“For that, it is Coca-Cola PNG Limited’s objective to bring PNG to the world stage by partnering with the competition.
“It gives me great excitement because the partnership will lay a platform for schoolchildren to excel in rugby league and education.
“PNG’s national rugby league team will one day win the World Cup and it all starts now.
“For Coca-Cola to be part of that achievement is truly a privilege.”
