COI wasting tax payers money

Letters

THE commission of inquiry (COI) into the UBS loan headed by chairman Sir Salamo Injia has requested for additional funding of K27 million as promised by Prime Minister James Marape last year.
Last September, the Government allocated K8 million to kick start the inquiry.
Now another K27 million is needed to complete COI.
This is more than K30 million inquiry the chairman will conduct.
As a citizen and tax payer, I am very concerned with this huge amount of money needed for this COI.
This money should have been used to pay for students’ school fees and invested for future development of this country.
Rural hospitals and schools are in dire need of such money.
Deteriorated roads in the rural areas urgently need government assistance where most of PNG’s population live.
Can the government justify to us the tax payers how the government intends to recoup this amount invested in this COI?
More than K30 million for this COI which will take eight months is just a total waste of tax payers’ money.

Concern Tax Payer,
