THE Arawa Nursing School in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville has graduated 45 health workers after reopening this year – 27 years after it closed.
Despite a lack of proper facilities, the school passed 23 nursing students with diploma and 22 community health workers.
The principal and staff were commended by the leaders for reviving the school after the original school was destroyed in 1991 during the Bougainville Crisis.
State Minister assisting the Prime Minister on Bougainville matters William Samb said health workers were needed to meet the increasing demands in the region.
