College puts focus on training

THE Christian Leaders Training College in Jiwaka wants to focus on early childhood teacher’s training programmes, says principal Maxon Mani.
Mani told The National that the Jiwaka government was aware of the programme.
“We have produced some of the best (students) here and they are asking us to make it a training programme for the whole province so teachers can be trained in early childhood and children can start school at the age of three instead of eight,” he said.
Mani said the college taught children as young as three.
“They have asked us in education 1-6 so we can have a primary school here from kiddy (play school) all the way to grade six,” he said.
“However, we have a problem with classrooms, they wanted to start grade three this year but we don’t have the facilities.”
The college offers theological courses.
