College’s teachers start year with induction programme

KOPKOP College kicked of its 2020 academic year with its annual induction programme for teachers.
With the theme ‘Working Smarter and Wiser in fostering Quality Education’, the college’s primary and secondary schools teachers gathered at the main campus in Port Moresby from Jan 13 to 17 for the programme.
The college’s primary school principal Mary Udu said the purpose of the induction was to get the teachers familiarised with their policies and procedures and to emphasise the roles and responsibilities of the teachers.
“The induction programme is like an introduction for the new teachers into Kopkop College and also an avenue to get their feedback on all the topics that were covered,” she said.
The grade point average (GPA), the new assessment measurement procedural process that Kopkop is adapting to this year was included in the induction to give the teachers more insight.
“GPA is about the total marks collected for per term over the number of subjects,” she said.
“The GPA system now we have A+, A, A- and this applies to other grades as well.
“Except for grade E which if you fail then you have failed.”
Udu said the new system was introduced to make students more competitive.
Some of the topics that were covered during the induction week included the Kopkop College assessment policy, college etiquette and internal quality assurance policy.

  • Teaching is my favorite profession. Getting to know that teachers also get a chance of discovering and training themselves through such induction programs is wonderful. A suggestion would be to include some creative ideas from https://www.supersledders.com so that teachers are distressed and also find the child in each of them. Go through the link for the best creative ideas.
