AFTER their 8-6 win over reigning champions Border Storm on Sunday, QPR Colts are confident of grabbing back-to-back wins to reach the National Capital District Governor’s Cup final.
Colts play Toks Mafuka Eels in today’s semifinals (10am kick-off) and are eager to continue their winning form with head coach Gordon Bal backing his experienced men.
“Our skipper Julius Yokopa, Ben Wemin and Bob Gore really came through for us,” he said after their quarterfinal win.
“We’ll be expecting another big game from them.
“We’re looking forward to the semifinals.
“We’ll be playing our brothers from Tokarara so the day off (yesterday) is going to really help in our recovery.
“It’s good for the boys to get back on the field after Christmas and New Year.
“The effort from everyone against Storm was there and I’m proud of them.
“I played in the final last year but due to injuries, I’ve decided to stand in as coach during the tournament.”
Bal commended young five-eighth Peter Pakali and halfback Billy Opa for an impressive game against Storm.
The other semifinal will see Garden Hills Mapex Eagles, who are yet to suffer defeat, face Savuka Souths Brothers.
