Numbers game
Everyone, including the Opposition MPs, would have been taken by surprise by that out-of-the-blue vote-of-confidence in PM Marape in the House – both a public display of numbers and a testing-the-water tactic. Smart tactical move.
Lights out
Opposition Leader Douglas Tomuriesa opens the window for some cool fresh are at Parliament House after a power cut yesterday.
A CINO
One thing is to call oneself a Christian, another is to act or behave like one, lest one be branded a CINO (Christian in name only).
Impromptu fist-fight
Our Parliament will not be the first to witness an impromptu physical encounter between MPs. It has happened elsewhere in the past – Maldives (last month), Jordan and Sri Lanka, to name a few.
Food for thought
“I don’t know who needs to hear this but you did the best you could do with what you had at the time. Forgive yourself for where you feel you fell short, and be grateful that you’re better equipped now.”
Top quote
“If you want to change the government, a government that was voted in by the people at the polls in the 2022 general elections, then present your numbers. Everything is based on numbers. We have 84. If the opposition feels they have ground for a vote of confidence, it is within their rights to move the motion.” – Prime Minister James Marape.
