THE National Capital District Commission (NCDC) plans to work with the Road Transport Authority (RTA) to improve the bus service in the city, says city manager Bernard Kipit.
Kipit said they needed to properly coordinate and monitor buses as the service they provided were unsatisfactory.
He said city residents complained of drivers not servicing their allocated routes and overcharging fares, abusing passengers and operating dirty and poorly maintained vehicles.
“The bus owners should appreciate the services they were providing as they are making fast money on short routes compared to other routes in the country, including the Highlands Highway,” he said.
“They are not risking their money being stolen by thieves along the road or having their vehicles vandalised or damaged.
“They are running their businesses in a good environment with good roads in the city.”
Kipit said Governor Powes Parkop was not happy with the service provided.
“NCDC will work with the RTA to improve the service through regular monitoring and taking disciplinary action.”
