THE Bougainville Referendum Commission has thanked the Government and the Autonomous Bougainville Government (ABG) for providing extra funds for the referendum preparations.
Chief Referendum officer Mauricio Claudio said the commission received K10 million from the Government and K1.5 million from the ABG.
“These funds are just in time to support the efforts to enrol all eligible Bougainvilleans to vote in the referendum.”
In 2019, the commission received K18.7 million from the Government and K2 million from the ABG towards its K27.8 million budget.
“The BRC still needs K7.2 million to reach our K27.8 million budget figure,” Claudio said.
“We will continue to work with both governments as well as the international community to ensure the BRC has what is needed to deliver a credible and high quality referendum.”
