THE search for Milne Bay’s notorious criminal Tommy Baker continues, with close to 20 arrests made so far in the investigation, says Police Commissioner Gari Baki.
Baki, who could not confirm the number, said that nearly 20 people were believed to be a part of Baker’s gang arrested and currently under investigation.
“But the search is continuing, police have already recovered some high-powered firearms and ammunition believed to have belonged to Baker’s gang. Police have also recovered some of the stuff, including goods, merchandise and electrical appliances that were stolen by Baker gang,” he said.
“We have received information that a member of the gang (suspected to be baker) is badly wounded.
“We believe we are now closing in on Baker and the remainder of his gang and we should arrest them soon.”
Baki urged the public to assist police with any information they may have on the location of the fugitives.
The notorious gang led by Baker has been terrorising and robbing communities in Milne Bay and parts of Central since December and was responsible for the Jan 24 chaos in Alotau.
