Committee to find out why Parl facilities not maintained

THE Public Accounts Committee will inquire into parliament services for failing to maintain parliament facilities.
Chairman Sir John Pundari told a press conference yesterday that the committee wanted to “ascertain why air conditioners, the elevator and many other facilities in the people’s house were not working”.
“We will later confirm the time when the inquiry will be made and will summon the Clerk of Parliament to explain,” he said.
“This is the house of the people where leaders voted in by the people come to represent their people and it should be maintained.”
Sir John made the statement shortly after adjourning the inquiry into the Health Department’s procurement and supply of medicine and pharmaceutical drugs due to the air conditioners not working in the B1 conference room where the inquiry was being held.
He also said that it was “very sad to see” the State Function Room, where the inquiry was previously held, being booked out.
“The parliamentary committee should be given priority to use State Function Room, after all the committees are an extension of the Parliament,” he said.

  • There is something fishy, something so immense and something no one in Parliament want to admit that is smelling. The Public Accounts Committee has just seen the tip of the ice berg in Air Condition not working well in Parliament.
It is should be the first to be inquired.
