EDDIE Engineering and Salu Mint Mart are backing youths to help maintain law and order at the Voco Point beachfront.
Eddie Engineering owner Ponweera Edward assisted the youths with sporting gear, fuel and beautification tools to clean Hilmar Wong Park.
“The beachfront is gradually changing,” Edward said.
“The environment is attracting visitors each day because our youths are cleaning the beachfront.
“Our hope is to restore the lost pride and instil confidence in the public who use the beachfront for various purposes.
“It is a challenge but the place is gradually changing for the better.
“The youths are beginning to respect people and I am very keen to support them.”
Eddie Engineering gave K500 and Salu Mint Mart K100 to buy soccer uniforms for Voco Point Seawalls FC (VSFC) to participate in the Lahi Football Association.
They lost to Medics FC 3-0 in their first match at Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium two weekends ago.
Voco Point (Dog Unit) police commander Chief Sergeant Brian Panda told the players and team president Ray Charles that the nearby business houses would support youths if they acted positively.
“We are eager to change, but it has to come out from our hearts and I thank Edward and Salu for the support,” Panda said.
“No-one from outside has tarnished the name of Vocopoint. Therefore, we (youths) must take the onus to create positive image for a peaceful Voco Point again.”
