NAMBAWAN Trophy Haus is continuing its sponsorship support towards the Iga Papaka Cup netball tournament for the second year in a row.
Area manager Paulo Lumintad presented their sponsorship support of trophies and equipment, including netball hoops and balls, which totalled almost K5,000.
Lumintad said Nambawan Trophy Haus was happy to continue supporting the tournament as they had been backing sports since the company was established.
“The company continues supporting sports through sponsorship, especially those that are engaged in sports continuously,” he said.
“We are happy and will continue supporting those communities, teams and clubs in the future (through) sponsorship.”
Lahari family representative Caroline Genaia thanked Nambawan Trophy Haus for their support, saying that they were looking forward to hosting the tournament in honour of their late mother.
“We’re grateful and humbled by the (sponsorship,” she said.
“We’re looking forward to the tournament in the village to honour our late mum and showcase her legacy in the sport.
“We have five divisions — U16, U18, Masters, A Grade and male open — that will take part during the Queen’s Birthday long weekend (June 11-14) at Hula village.”
Genaia said that they were thankful to the people at Hula, Rigo, for allowing the family to host the tournament there.
She said this would be the third year of the competition to run in Hula.
The tournament will see 50 teams — 10 teams sides division — with teams from Hula as well as outside areas such as Gabagaba, Tubusereia, Hanuabada and Port Moresby.
“Since our mum is from Hula, we are encouraging Hula women and men (to participate),” Genaia said.
She said they were thankful for the outside teams that would participate.
