Company donates chess boards to schools in hopes to promote game

RAMU Agri Industries Ltd (Rail) donated 10 chess boards to Lae International School to support the playing of the game.
The company also donated another 10 chess boards to Ramu International Primary School.
According to Rail marketing staff, the initiative was to promote chess among the students.
Marketing assistant Flora Anders told the students that Rail was trialing the board game at the two schools with cross school competition to be played.
“When you are confident in your skills we will arrange with Ramu International for a chess challenge,” Anders said.
“Ramu International can
come down and challenge you here during a weekend competition or we can take you up to Ramu.”
She also encouraged students to teach their friends and to play at home.
Anders said they planned to promote the game at other schools in Lae and Morobe before looking at other provinces.
Lae International School assistant deputy principal Eunice Patton acknowledge the company saying her students were excited about learning the game.
