Company donates medical oxygen

A GAS company has donated 200 cylinders of medical oxygen to the Government’s efforts to addressing the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic in Papua New Guinea.
The Motukea Gas Company Ltd donated filled cylinders worth K70,000 to the State with Prime Minister James Marape and several senior ministers given a tour of the company’s facility outside Port Moresby on Friday.
Company managing director Richard Foo said they were capable of generating 400 cylinders of 47-litres, medical oxygen in 24 hours.
“We don’t have to import medical oxygen from overseas,” he said.
Foo said the company had been operating in the country since 2010. “In this pandemic time, we wish to do a small contribution to pay back to this country.
“We are here always ready to serve this country.”
The donation included the cylinders, regulator, hoses and face masks.
Marape said the donation would help the health system.
He said for a company to in downstream processing was encouraging and in line with his Government’s agenda.
“Thank you for this kind gesture, you are a company that is living in hard times,” he said.
“Our population is growing, we need to match that with our education, health and business.”
