PARADISE Foods Ltd is assisting the PNG Cancer Foundation carry out awareness on women’s health in Lae City this month, a company representative says.
Paradise Foods area manager Eo Kila said the company entered into a partnership earlier this year with the foundation.
Paradise Foods is raising awareness on women’s health through their bottled water brand Tru Tru Wara and will facilitate awareness campaign against cancer and in particular, breast cancer. The company teamed up with volunteers from National Cancer Treatment Centre to carry out an awareness at the Malaita United Church, Papuan Compound.
A team from the centre, led by radiation therapist Julie Cecil, talked about the three common cancers in the country which were breast, mouth cancer and cervical cancer.
Cecil advised her audience to take preventive measures by living a healthy lifestyle.
She also advised them to try a garden-based diet.
Cecil said the centre was currently unable to offer treatment and quick-turn around results.
“We only provide chemotherapy and breast screening, do our routine clinics Monday to Friday, follow-up clinics, care for patients in the ward undergoing chemotherapy,” Cecil said.
She said the Well Women’s clinic located next to them in the Angau General Hospital provided cervix screening.
