A PLAN is in place by the Morobe health administration to look into the renovations of the Wau Health Centre, its staffing and other issues affecting the facility, an official says.
Morobe public health director Micah Yawing said yesterday that Morobe’s health division had planned and implemented projects in its 2011-2020 plan.
“Wau Health Centre comes under that plan and we are yet to implement the activities that are planned for that district hospital,” Yawing said.
He said the delay in the implementation of the planned renovations to Wau Health Centre were a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and availability of funds.
He said the Morobe government was committed to improving the health sector and standards and that covered facilities, manpower, equipment, medical supplies, logistic support and communication.
Yawing said there was a team working at the provincial, district and local level government levels to facilitate issues within the health sector.
He said while Wau was yet to get the attention it deserved, other health centres such as the Bulolo District Hospital was upgraded to a level four medical facility, Mumeng Health Centre was improved, Watut received support, and Garasa Aid Post in Garaina became to a community aid post.
