Company kicks off masters soccer tournament in Lae

A COMPANY has kicked off a masters tournament in Lae with the aim of helping former footballers adopt a healthy lifestyle.
The tournament, which kicked off last weekend and will run for another three weeks at the Lae Football Association Park, is sponsored by Panamex Pacific (PNG) Limited.
Company marketing manager Ronald Ram said the tournament would encourage former footballers to return to the sport and practise healthy living.
“Over the years, young people and athletes have died from heart diseases and other illnesses,” he said.
“Therefore, Panamex Pacific has taken the initiative to organise such tournament to get them (former footballers) back onto the field and living healthy.
“So far, we have four teams – Panamex, Unitech, Adco and Sports Commission – and the tournament is still open to sides that are interested to join.”
Ram said if there were many teams, the tournament would likely finish with a presentation on Christmas Eve.
Results: Panamex 5 Unitech 1, Adco 3 Sports Commission 2.
