Competency emphasised in public service

 DEPARTMENT of Implementation and Rural Development staff been told to gain a thorough knowledge  of their organisation.

At last Friday’s graduation of staff from a week-long public service induction programme, Secretary Paul Sai said: “You must know your purpose for being in the public service, be well-versed with your duty as well as know your public service general order, code of ethics and Management Act.”

He said this would ensure that staff members were competent to deliver  services to the public.

Sai told the staff to review how they had performed to understand upcoming challenges and start planning on what they wanted to  achieve in the next five years and betond.

He emphasised the importance of public servants being properly inducted into the public service.
