Competition gets interest from sponsors

THE Papua New Guinea Football Association has received positive feedback from interested sponsors of the Women’s National Soccer League, says general secretary Pius Letenge.
He said currently, the only sponsor was bmobile which is the official communications partner of the league.
Letenge said the association was looking at recognising bmobile as the naming-rights sponsor.
He said Kumul Petroleum Holdings Ltd had also indicated its interest as a sponsor, however, discussions were still ongoing with association president John Kapi Natto.
“In terms of sponsorship, we’ve got a couple of companies interested to come in, but only to sponsor certain parts or programmes in the league,” Letenge said.
“We will be meeting with them during the week to discuss this.
“What we want to see is that if sponsors are coming in, they should support the league whether it’s the Northern or Southern Conference.
“The Northern Conference is part of the league but it is being played in different locations.
“The understanding has to be mutual because we’ve invested a lot of resources into the league.”
Meanwhile, he said bmobile’s sponsorship of the player of the match had made a huge difference in the performance of the players.
