VOLLEYBALL in Hanuabada has the potential to rise to the national level alongside its fellow Motuan villages, says an official.
Tanobada Botai Kuriu Volleyball Association president Ted Mea said only a handful of players had set the precedent in the sport, however, there was room for more with the association eyeing the national championships.
“Getting teams into the national championships is something that we want to get done because we have the talent to be competitive against the big teams,” he told The National.
“We have players who are playing in some of the more experienced competitions in Tatana and Vabukori, so we can draw from their knowledge and experience of the game to push us.
“Using our experienced players as role models has motivated and rallied our youths to register our association, so that we can be competitive at the top level of the game.”
Mea said the space taken to host volleyball in a populous village like Hanuabada was an advantage.
