Competition set for kickoff

THE fourth annual Simon Sia Super 9s rugby league tournament is set to kick off in two towns of Eastern Highlands later this month, according to competition director Benji Filele.
“For the first time this year, the Simon Sia Super 9s competition is divided into two zones, the eastern and western,” he said.
“The eastern zone caters for teams from Obura-Wonenara, Kainantu, Okapa and Henganofi districts.
Filele said teams in the eastern zone would play in Kainantu town from Nov 25-26 with 16 teams already registered to participate.
The top four advances on to the finals at the National Sports Institute (NSI) in Goroka from Dec 5-6.
The western zone comprises 32 teams from Goroka, Daulo, Unggai-Bena and Lufa and districts as well as some from neighbouring provinces.
