MINISTER for Housing John Kaupa is warning people about con artists with fake titles and stamps are going around trying to sell land.
He said they should be mindful not to fall victims of those people.
The minister admitted that senior Housing Corporation staff were involved in a lot of the illegal sales of National Housing Corporation houses and properties, including those in provinces and the districts.
Kaupa said since taking up the ministry, he had identified so many illegal activities, including illegal sales and transfers of Housing facilitated by senior National Housing Cooperation staff.
He said he had sent a circular stopping all sales and acquisitions.
Kaupa said he would circulate another ministerial directive stopping further sales of NHC houses and properties. He said since taking up office he had tried to bring in integrity but there were still challenges such as people with fake titles, letterheads and common seals or stamps of NHC trying to sell land.
Kaupa said under a new arrangement, the NHC would look at offloading the NHC houses in the provinces and the districts to the provincial government and the district development authorities to manage.
