Concern over people not adhering to measures

MANY people are not adhering to safety measures despite a surge in the number of Covid-19 cases in Morobe which has angered some members of the public.
Speaking to The National yesterday, Lae resident Cathy Mindur said people were ignoring health and safety advice with regards to crowding in public places in Lae and on public motor vehicles (PMV).
“People are not even wearing masks in public places,” she said.
“We should have the law agencies working together with the health authorities and the provincial government and come down hard on these people.
“Our own disobedient actions will spread the disease and affect our livelihoods.
“I want authorities to come down hard on people who are not following the safety measures in public places.”
Paul Kombe, of West New Britain, who is a long time resident of Lae, said PMV buses were continuing to overload passengers with little regard for passengers and not requiring anyone to wear masks.
“If we want to remove the disease, we must follow the simple rules of social distancing, hand sanitising and wearing masks,” he said.

  • I think the best way is,the SOE controller can come up with some tough measures for such ignorant people. The best option I would suggest is,instruct the cops to belt such people and put them behind bars

  • Ignorance and self preservation is clearly reflected in our attitudes. When we are all faced with a matter of being alive or perish situation, we just cant get this simple things right. We are our own worst enemy than COVID-19
