Confirm list for returning officers

Letters

THE Electoral Commissioner Simon Sinai needs to confirm and publish the list of Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers for all 118 parliamentary seats.
We have few days left before polling on July 4 and we do not have the list confirmed and published as yet.
Too many important things are not being done by the Electoral Commission (EC) as yet and it all points to a potentially and possibly failed election. The deployment of police and military to the 22 provinces does not seem to show what we are used to seeing in past general elections.
Last thing Papua New Guinea wants is to fail this election.
Last thing PNG also wants is for current politicians to rig the General Election 2022.
The way polling schedules is drawn out with Hela now going to be the first in the country to hold polling ahead of all 21 provinces and Jiwaka, WHP and others last shows what’s brewing at the EC.
This election is a dangerous one and too many conflicting interests involved and therefore EC has to be seen and practice to be fair, free and safe in implementing all the election plans without any (zero) political influence.
The ball is now squarely in the courts of Sinai and PNG is watching carefully his every decision.
