Cops in Enga told to comply with Covid-19 directives

ENGA police commander Chief Insp Epenes Nili has called on police officers in the province to work with other law enforcement agencies to implement the Covid-19 orders.
He told the officers at a parade in Wabag that their duties and responsibilities were to arrest and bring offenders to court and make sure that there was peace and good order in the province.
He also called on the officers to support the Covid-19 Task Force team in the province by providing security to make sure that the province was Covid-19-free and that people should continue with their daily business.
Insp Nili said the betel nut ban in Enga would continue.
He also warned police officers to conduct themselves ethically and not to be involved in smuggling betel nut.
There were reports of police officers allowing vendors to transport betel nut through checkpoints.
Insp Nili said he was satisfied that police personnel had conducted operations adequately during the state of emergency and lockdown with no major incidents reported.
He attributed this to good information collected by the police deployed previously.
“I am satisfied with the level of participation that has been undertaken by each of you as police officers under your police station commanders, section heads and unit commanders so far.”
Insp Nili also called on the people to follow all government directives on the Covid-19.
