PEOPLE of Ulagunan village in Kokopo, East New Britain, have been urged by police to help their investigation into the recent killings at Kokopo Market and Kokopo Business College.
East New Britain police commander Chief Inspector Joseph Tabali said a successful investigation of the incident, support from the Ulagunan community would be needed.
“The situation has gone beyond the control of police,” he said.
“Even the situation is under control now, I am seeking the support and assistance from the Ulagunan locals to help police carry out the investigation.
“Police can’t do this on their own,” he said. “We need information, we need statements of what happen from the people, what they saw and what they heard.
“That’s exactly what we want as this will help us carry out a successful investigation on the matter.”
Tabali said investigations had commenced f and four suspects had already been arrested while one was still at large.
He said investigations following the college incident were also in progress. Tabali, however, called on the locals to work with police to carry out the investigation.
