MANUS police arrested a Pak Island man and confiscated marijuana worth an estimated street value of K100, 000, at the Lorengau wharf on Sunday afternoon.
Provincial police commander Insp Alex N’Drasal said yesterday a passenger on board mv Siddy that arrived on Sunday afternoon from Madang was stopped and searched.
The drugs were found in two 10kg rice bags and a luggage bag containing two neatly taped parcels.
Police believe the drugs were brought in to be sold in the province.
N’Drasal said the province was facing problems with drug trafficking and police had  been seizing drugs at the wharf and making arrests.
The suspect, Samson Solomon, was charged yesterday with possession of dangerous drugs.
He is being held in police custody and will appear in Manus district court for mention on Wednesday.
In another incident, a former soldier was killed over the weekend after a fight over fishing grounds.

N’Drasal said Felix Bai, 22, with a mixed parentage of Ahus in Manus and West New Britain got into an argument with another youth from Loa village on Saturday.
Attempts to quell the situation through a meeting at Loa, resulted in a big fight between villagers from the two areas.
Bai was fatally beaten up in the fight N’Drasal said the fight was not election related.
Meanwhile he commended people in the province for cooperating with police during the polling period and was confident this would be maintained during counting.
