STUDENTS at the Kaindi Teachers College, in Wewak, East Sepik province, are unhappy with the way some candidates for the Wewak open have been handing out cash to them during the polling period.
The students raised this concern after a candidate went to the school last Tuesday night and handed K50 to them.
“Our future is very important and we are here to be educated so that we may help to develop this province and country,” the students said.
It is understood the candidate who handed the cash to the students is a businessman contesting as an independent.
The students said the people of Papua New Guinea were being fooled by such candidates and they did not want this to happen again.
They are urging parents and the people of the province to make a good decision before casting their votes.
“Money is the root of all evil so always seek God’s guidance during the time of casting votes for good and God-fearing leaders,” they said.
