EASTERN Highlands police were given notice yesterday to dress up properly and follow their general code of conduct.
The police were told at the parade where they formally took their Christmas and New Year special police operation orders in Goroka.
Eastern Highland provincial police commander Chief Supt Augustine Wampe reminded them of the importance of maintaining their general code of conduct which included dressing.
The parade, which is the last for the year also marked the start of the special Christmas and New Year police operation for the province.
“All sectional heads are to control their respective officers as per the special operation order.
“Despite the limited resources we have managed to maintain peace and order in the province since I took office in March,” Chief Supt Wampe said.
He commended his officers for their professional approach in maintaining security at the recent
Kandep by-election counting.
“The special police operation starts today and we will be out in full force to maintain peace and harmony.”
Chief Supt Wampe said there would be random checks along the Eastern Highland section of the Okuk Highway to ensure the public was safe and transportation of illegal substances like marijuana were stopped. Police officers from outstations in the eight districts were also present for the special parade.
