A WOMAN was attacked and robbed of her groceries and money while she was walking home after shopping in Popondetta town on Monday, police said.
Northern police commander Supt Michael Welly said it was alleged that three men armed with homemade guns were at Sorowi Road and attacked the woman.
They took her groceries, including a 10kg bag of rice, a carton of tinned fish and K300 in cash.
Supt Welly said because of the lockdown, no PMV buses were operating so she had to walk home.
He said the robbers were still at large.
Meanwhile, Supt Welly said in another incident, four people were arrested by the police for allegedly posting defamatory remarks about a woman on Facebook.
He said it was alleged that two men and two women took a photo of the woman, who was a shop assistant at Popondetta Market, and posted it on Facebook with comments.
The matter was reported to police and the four admitted to the post.
They apologised to the woman.
Supt Welly said he was warning the public not to make fun of the deadly coronavirus because it was a serious situation.
