EAST Sepik National Alliance branch president Henry Takombe has described allegations of corruptions levelled against the NA-led government as baseless and misleading.
“The national government is not corrupt, it is the system of government from the open MPs down to the presidents and the public service machinery that is not delivering,” he said.
Takombe said the national government, under the leadership of Sir Michael Somare, had pumped millions of kina into all 89 districts in the country, but if services did not reach the people, their open MPs, the LLG presidents and the public service machinery in the provinces should shoulder the blame.
He was angered by allegations raised by callers on a recent talk-back show on FM100 radio.
“These people have failed to realise that if the government was corrupt, there would be no impact projects like the liquefied natural gas (LNG) project, all 89 districts would not be receiving K17 million each, our economy would not have improved and foreign investors would not have come to invest in PNG.”
Takombe said instead of blindly criticising a government that was delivering, people should critically analyse the channel of service delivery to detect where corruption might have occurred before making such baseless  allegations.
