LEARNING leadership skills can be for both the young and the older, a 10-year-old boy says.
Samuel Tamanabae, was the youngest among 21 participants of the Human Development Institute level one leadership course in Port Moresby on Friday.
He said the course had given him public confidence and a different perspective on people.
Tamanabae, of mixed Northern and East New Britain parentage, was enthusiastic and eager to learn and was speaking confidently after completing the two-week course.
He attended the training after his mother encouraged him to as she said it was always good to learn new skills and gain experiences that would make him a better person.
Another participant, Lohia Lulu Raivet, said she could help youths in her community through the production of a documentary portraying their potential.
“The documentary will target the youths to know their potential and empower them to reach their goals using their talents, strengths, determination and resilience to inspire other young people.”
She said individuals could change by working together.
“We all have the power in us to be the best versions for ourselves,” she added.
Human Development Institute chairman and founder Sam Tam told The National the course focused on business and comprised equal parts theory and practical.
He said the group covered seven stages from micro enterprises to commercial, small commercial, medium commercial and large commercial.
Tam added that the institute ran courses for the public to pay and attend earning certification and valuable knowledge on bettering themselves.
