Court adjourns firearms case to Tuesday

THE Boroko District Court has adjourned the hearing of Australian Sean Anthony Honey’s firearms case to Tuesday because the prosecutor and arresting officer could not provide a copy of the warrant used to search his premises.
He is charged with six counts of possession of unlicensed firearms and is also facing drug charges, smuggling about 168kg of methamphetamine worth about K90 million.
The search warrant was used to search his premises at the BSA Construction site at Baruni Road in Port Moresby on Oct 2. The prosecutor objected the submission on the grounds that case officers would be leaving soon as they were not from the National Capital District, but the court rejected the submission of the prosecutor to hear the case on Dec 20.
