AN 18-year-old was charged with armed robbery and had his case adjourned to next month by Waigani Committal Court Magistrate Tracy Ganaii last Thursday.
The accused is Alofa John Dop from Pulglimb village in Western Highlands.
It was alleged that on March 8, Dop and other youths were seen in front of a tucker shop under the influence of alcohol at Seseve St, Morata One.
While Dop was standing there, he walked towards two women, Masha Greg and Alice Willie (the victim) who was holding a Samsung Galaxy J2 prime mobile phone.
Dop allegedly grabbed Willie from behind and demanded the mobile phone.
Willie struggled and resisted but Dop threatened her with a kitchen knife and pulled the phone from her hand and ran away.
The complainants reported the matter to police and Dop was arrested by Gordon criminal investigation division officers and admitted to the offence claiming he had sold the phone for K70.
The phone was then retrieved from the buyer by police officers and returned to Willie.
Dop was charged and remanded in custody. He returns to court on April 21.
