Court constrains police commissioner of further action against Tamari

THE National Court has restrained Police Comm David Manning from taking further action on acting Supt Christopher Tamari, who he had demoted in October.
Justice Royale Thompson granted an interim injunction yesterday against Manning’s decision on Oct 2 to demote Tamari from acting superintendent to senior inspector.
Tamari requested the court to set aside the decision.
A lawyer representing Tamari argued that the directive issued by Manning to demote Tamari as a penalty for an offence Tamari committed years ago was likely to interfere in Tamari’s application for the position of superintendent.
Justice Thompson granted the interim stay against Manning up to Feb 18.
