THE Waigani Committal Court freed a man on an unlawful wounding charge because witnesses were not available, neither were their reports nor any report from the arresting officer.
Magistrate Cosmas Bidar dismissed the case against Kerry Awali, who was alleged to have wounded another person.
Bidar told the court that the defendant first appeared in court last month to stand trial and pleaded not guilty. The police prosecutor’s report said the office did not receive any evidence against the accused.
Bidar ordered that Awali’s bail money be refunded.
Meanwhile, the court adjourned a case against Sam Kambau charged with causing grievous bodily harm to next month.
Bidar told the court that Kambau was on a K500 bail and first appeared in court on Feb 4.
He will appear again for mention on July 6.
