Court grants man relief

A COURT has granted relief to a man who was seeking to have his contract of sale enforceable after it was cancelled by senior officials of the National Housing Corporation (NHC) after the property was sold to him for more than K250,000 and then resold to someone else.
Justice Lawrence Kangwia, presiding in the Waigani National Court, made an order in a form of a declaration that the contract of sale executed on July 25, 2017 between Dick Korowa Kipoi (plaintiff) and the NHC was legally binding and enforceable.
Kipoi, in a letter dated July 5, 2017 to the NHC expressed his interest to purchase the property.
The NHC by a letter dated July 14, 2017 through the then-acting managing director (MD) Ditha Nayabbanung, made an offer to sell the property to Kipoi for K250,000.
Kipoi through a bank cheque paid K259,000 to the National Housing Corporation as purchase and transfer price.
A transfer instrument was executed.
Despite numerous follow-ups, NHC did not transfer the title to Kipoi.

  • Corrupt land officers getting money from here and there using their position and authority to deprive people of their rightly purchased properties. I wish there is a good clean up in the housing & Lands department to get rid of these greedy shellfish people that donot need to be in this department.
