A WOMAN accused of stabbing another for allegedly having an affair with her husband appeared before Magistrate Tracy Ganaii in the Waigani Committal Court yesterday.
Maria Adam, of Orokolo village in Ihu, Gulf, was charged with one count of wounding Popora Amua.
Her case was adjourned to next Monday.
Adam had suspected Amua of having an affair with her husband for some time and was looking for them when they both went missing.
They were alleged to have gone to Toutu village in Gabadi, where her husband comes from.
Adam learnt that Amua had accompanied her husband to Toutu and she confirmed their visit with her husband’s relatives. She was furious and, allegedly armed with a kitchen knife on June 2, she approached Amua and repeatedly stabbed her on the neck and thigh.
Amua was unconscious after losing blood and was taken to the Konedobu clinic and treated, and later discharged.
A complaint was laid with police and Adam was arrested and taken to the police station downtown where she was charged and later released on a K500 police bail.
Her bail was converted to district court bail with conditions that she should not interfere with state witnesses and should attend court when required.
Her bail was extended.
